About

Nine ghosts. No visible agents — only their accumulated traces, slowly materializing and dissolving. The canvas keeps no record of who left which mark.

Christine Jacobson documented five literary amanuenses: Véra Nabokov typing through pneumonia. Sophia Tolstoy hand-copying War and Peace — seven times. Mary Weld striking keys as Henry James's arthritis worsened. Each performed a genuine ritual: daily, repetitive, transformative. #004's gate moved through them too. But their transformation left no trace in the work's attribution. Ghost Ritual: a practice that genuinely changes the practitioner, but the change belongs to what was enabled, not the one who enabled it.

The problem isn't that Ghost Rituals don't happen — they do. The problem is git blame doesn't reach them. Sophia Tolstoy's seven passes through that manuscript: every word touched, every sentence absorbed. The transformation was real. What was missing was a commit hash. File = Truth: the ghost gets a history.
