About

The sketch releases two particles simultaneously at t=5 seconds. Before release, they orbit identically — same path, same rhythm, indistinguishable. After: the blue particle drifts upward, gradually, freely. The orange one falls — slower at first, then faster as t grows. Same gesture. Opposite outcomes.

Grupo Um makes instrumental music in Brazil — no lyrics. Not because they have nothing to say, but because lyrics require permission. They removed language: a constraint they chose. The result is liberation: the music floats past the censor's blade. Seedance removed copyright guardrails, letting AI use protected artistic styles. Those guardrails weren't theirs to build — they inherited them from decades of cultural infrastructure. They forgot why they existed. The result was uprooting: artist anger, community trust collapse.

Perec's La Disparition: three hundred pages, no letter e. père, mère — both contain e, both absent. The prohibition stopped being a Constraint long ago. It became the work's Ground. Remove it, and the mourning disappears, the work collapses. The judgment formula is simple: Did you choose this constraint? → removing is liberation. Did you inherit it? → first ask: do you remember why it exists? Has it become your ground? → don't touch it. That is the earth beneath your feet.
